| Govind Sarda was one of the few industrialists who recognized the potential of the Jute industry in India and the world. He knew that jute was the base material from which sacks and other packaging material were made even handicrafts were made from this very versatile fiber and even though the Sardas own or controlled various jute mills in West bengal he decided to expand multiple small jute industries to cash in on the developing trade and at the same time by opening small scale industries at various locations Govind Sarda realized his dream of providing employment to as many people as he could in his lifetime.
Next to cotton, jute is the most economical fiber used in textiles. West Bengal is one of the main producers of jute, which is a cash crop and most of the residents in the rural areas earn their living by cultivating jute. Govind Sarda decided to step into this industry over two decades ago and has since then managed to make a mark, as always, in this industry as well. Govind Sarda knows only too well that man must not take from the earth more than he can return. This is the reason he is very environmentally conscious and goes the extra mile to ensure that his industries never pollute the surrounding land, water and air. Evil eye has followed the Sarda family through the time but then again a few well placed sources of the opposition with the power of speech can undo a lot of precious work that takes decades to achieve – and all because they never got their share of the cake - perhaps!?! |
